The $309.5 Million Settlement Fund
Amazon.com, Inc. will pay an additional $309.5 million into a Common Fund that is not returned to Amazon. That fund pays class members, the Settlement Administrator's costs, attorneys' fees, and service awards to the Class Representatives.
Amazon also agreed to make reasonable efforts to pay certain unpaid refunds outside the fund.
Class Counsel may request up to $100,000,000 in fees and up to $1,000,000 in costs. Each Class Representative may request a $7,500 service award. These figures are ceilings on what can be requested, and the court may award less.
Who Is in the Class
The class covers people who initiated a return or requested a refund for a physical product bought through Amazon.com and received in the U.S. between September 5, 2017 and February 12, 2026. A person in that group must also meet one of three conditions:
- They did not receive a refund.
- They received a late or incorrect refund.
- They were charged again after a refund.

What Payments Look Like
The notice does not state how much any individual class member will receive. No per-person amount or estimate is published.
The Settlement Administrator decides eligibility and payment amounts. This page describes the settlement's terms and cannot tell you whether you qualify or what you will get.
The settlement is not final until the court approves it at the final approval hearing. Payments follow approval, and an appeal can delay them. See our guide on how long a settlement takes.
Settlement money may be taxable depending on what it replaces. Read our overview of whether legal settlements are taxable.

- Type www.ReturnSettlement.com into your browser yourself and file online, or download and mail the paper form.

Your Options: File, Opt Out, Object, Do Nothing
Class members have four choices, and three of them carry the same December 1, 2026 deadline.
- File a claim. Subclass B members must file by December 1, 2026 to receive a payment.
- Opt out. An exclusion request is due December 1, 2026. Opting out keeps your right to sue Amazon separately over the same claims, and you receive no settlement payment.
- Object. Objections are due December 1, 2026.
- Do nothing. A Subclass A member will automatically receive a payment but should still select a payment method. A Subclass B member who does nothing receives no payment.
The court may award less than the fee requests, and an appeal can delay payments. You can browse other open cases in our class action lawsuits index or our settlements section.
